Integrated controller hub motor uses only 1 cable which connect to battery. Dashboard is wireless. I assume it is pedelec only and no throttle.

General Discussion / E-HAWK Freerider
« on: October 11, 2011, 01:45:18 PM »

21.10.2010: At the Intermot in Cologne, we underline once more our commitment to the development of future-oriented mobility, showing current and future-oriented developments in e-bike area. The most interesting project for many it represented the development of an e-Freeriders - a mountain bike for sportive freeride use.

In collaboration with the company Semcon Vehicle developed in monocoque construction proves the very first sight impressive: design and function, according to coordinated quickly leave the bland image of a "bicycle with helper motor" forgotten and delight even those die-hard mountain bikers, for the subject of the e-bike a long time has been interesting.

Almost 2 years of development time is built into the e-freerider needs. The aim was to develop a hybrid vehicle that combines the characteristics of a modern city bikes with the character of a bicycle and fitness a masculine touch.

The implementation of the project was a collaboration between the company and HAWK Bikes Semcon from Munich. Semcon has 40 locations worldwide, including 7 in Germany, a fixture in the area of vehicle development and suppliers of major auto companies. The power spectrum is in the areas of design, calculation / simulation, engineering, electrics / electronics, Muster-/Prototypenbau and testing.

Is when and at what price the E-freerider on the market is not yet weighed.

Other eMTB Manufacturers / 2011 KTM eGnition Review
« on: October 11, 2011, 01:37:03 PM »
http://www.freerider.ro/mag/ktm-egnition-bicicleta-sau-motocicleta-cu-pedale-16860.html

Weight: 74.9 lbs
Cost: $12,137 USD (converted from Euros. So probably more in the US)
Sales Numbers: 22 people have ordered one as of July 2011 and 88 will be made.

Impressions were very positive and the author admired he was a pedal power only guy. The speed of the bike took him off guard and he almost crashed into a pedestrian.

He did mention that the bike had a lot of under steer in the corners which is expected with the extra weight. He felt like he could get used to that. He summed it up by calling the bike fascinating.

Looks like the KTM eGnition / Clean Mobile drive will do ~ 41 km/h (25.5 mph) with pedal assist...

... in German.  :( I think I need to learn a new language.

The video does give a great walkthrough of the 2011 KTM eGnition showing the Clean Mobile controls. ...with natural sound!

It shows the assist level changing on the Clean Mobile dash.

There is also some video of the bike in motion. Highlights:
- 2:45 into the video he rolls on the throttle.
- 3:11 the video cuts out right before a small uphill... uh, fail?
- 4:05 Looks like he is doing about 16 Km/h ( 9.9 mph) on a paved uphill
